Shore based firefighters responding to waterfront or shipboard emergencies face an array of potential problems that may be far different from other routine calls. Existing Maritime Security issues, access of personnel and equipment, increased objective hazards, and an unfamiliar working environment may conspire to increase risk and complicate the scene.

Candidates will be trained to plan and work in the complex maritime environment in an all-hazards team response.

Classroom presentation and exercises operating under NIMS principles in conjunction with appropriate federal, state, tribal, and local authorities during training scenarios.  Students are introduced to the National Infrastructure Protection Plan, National Response Framework, NFPA 1005 and NFPA 1405, and National Response Guidelines.
